Prime Minister at a function on the occasion of World Environment Day

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a program organized by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev on the Save Soil Movement organized by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev on June 5, 2022.  The Prime Minister appreciated the global movement undertaken by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, head of Isha Foundation, to raise awareness about the depletion of soil nutrients and improve soil fertility through the Save Soil Movement.  Sadhguru started this movement in March 2022.  He embarked on a 100-day motorcycle journey through 27 countries.  As of June 5, it has reached the 75th day of the 100-day journey.  

Rich countries are a threat to the environment: Prime Minister Narendra

 Modi said that the rich countries are responsible for the global climate change and the release of huge carbon emissions.  He said that India's involvement in climate change has not been ignored.  He said that India is taking steps to protect the environment in many ways with schemes like Swachh Bharat Mission, Namami Ganga, One Sun - One Fuel System.  The Prime Minister has started a large-scale program to give soil health cards as there is not much awareness among Indian farmers about fertile soil.  Modi said that the aim is to promote natural agriculture.  

Survival of life only if soil is protected: Jaggi Vasudev Sadhguru

 Jaggi Vasudev of Isha Foundation said that life is possible only if soil is protected.  It is everyone's responsibility to protect the soil for future generations.  

Start of Lifestyle Movement:

 The Prime Minister started the Lifestyle for the Environment (LIFE) movement which aims to change our way of life in an environmentally friendly way. They are called Proplanet People.

20% ethanol in petrol by 2025:

 Ethanol is made from sugarcane and other agricultural products and added to petrol.  The government aims to add 10 percent ethanol to petrol by November 2022.  Public sector oil retail companies Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) have already achieved this (by June 2022).  Prime Minister said that we have already achieved the goals set for environmental protection.  It was announced that the target of adding 10 percent ethanol in petrol has been achieved five months before the deadline.  He said that 40 percent electricity generation through non-fossil fuels has been achieved nine years before the deadline.  By 2025 26 is taking steps towards the goal of adding 20 percent ethanol in petrol.  The prime minister said that this is an effort to overcome environmental problems along with reducing crude oil imports.  At present 10 percent ethanol and 90 percent petrol are being sold domestically.  Due to this, besides saving Rs.41,500 crores of foreign exchange (Forex), greenhouse gas emissions are estimated to be reduced by 27 lakh tonnes.  40,600 crores were paid to farmers by using agricultural produce for ethanol production. 

 

India ranks fifth in ethanol production:

 India has become the fifth largest producer of ethanol in the world.  America, Brazil, European Union (EU) and China are in the first four positions.  Ethane is widely used for consumption all over the world, but in Brazil and India, it is also widely used for mixing in petrol.  By 2025-26, our country aims to sell petrol with 20 percent ethanol.  For this, 1000 crore liters of ethanol has to be produced.  Due to this, it is expected to save 400 crore dollars (about Rs. 30,800 crore) annually.  From April 2023 onwards.

ప్రపంచ పర్యావరణ దినోత్సవం సందర్భంగా 2022 జూన్ 5 న న్యూఢిల్లీలో సద్గురు జగ్గీ వాసుదేవ్ ఏర్పాటు చేసిన మట్టిని కాపాడుకుందాం ఉద్యమం ( సేవ్ సాయిల్ మూవ్మెంట్ ) పై ఏర్పాటు చేసిన కార్యక్రమంలో ప్రధాని నరేంద్ర మోదీ ప్రసంగించారు . సేవ్ సాయిల్ మూవ్మెంట్ ద్వారా నేలలో సారం క్షీణించడంపై అవగాహన పెంచడానికి , సారాన్ని మెరుగుపరచడానికి ఈషా ఫౌండేషన్ అధినేత సద్గురు జగ్గీ వాసుదేవ్ చేపట్టిన ప్రపంచ వ్యాప్త ఉద్యమాన్ని ప్రధాని అభినందించారు . ఈ ఉద్యమాన్ని మార్చి 2022 లో సద్గురు ప్రారంభించారు . ఆయన 100 రోజుల మోటార్సైకిల్ ప్రయాణాన్ని 27 దేశాల గుండా ప్రారంభించారు . జూన్ 5 నాటికి 100 రోజుల ప్రయాణంలో 75 వ రోజుకు చేరుకుంది . 

సంపన్న దేశాలతోనే పర్యావరణానికి ముప్పు: ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా వస్తున్న వాతావరణ మార్పులకు , భారీగా కర్బన ఉద్గారాల విడుదలకు సంపన్న దేశాలే కారణమని ప్రధాని నరేంద్ర మోదీ ధ్వజమెత్తారు భూమిపైనున్న సహజ వనరుల్ని విపరీతంగా దోపిడీ చేయడమే కాకుండా పెద్ద ఎత్తున కర్బన ఉద్గారాలు ఆ దేశాల నుంచే విడుదల అవుతున్నా యన్నారు . వాతావరణ మార్పుల్లో భారత్ ప్రమేయాన్ని పెద్దగా పట్టించుకో నక్కర్లేదని అన్నారు . స్వచ్ఛభారత్ మిషన్ , నమామి గంగ , ఒకే సూర్యుడు - ఒకే ఇంథన వ్యవస్థ వంటి పథకాలతో బహుముఖంగా పర్యావరణ పరిరక్షణకు భారత్ చర్యలు తీసుకుంటోందని చెప్పారు . సారవంతమైన మట్టిపై భారత్ రైతుల్లో అవగాహన అంతగా లేదన్న ప్రధాని సాయిల్ హెల్త్ కార్డుల్ని ఇవ్వడానికి పెద్ద ఎత్తున కార్యక్రమాన్ని ప్రారంభించామన్నారు . ప్రకృతి వ్యవసాయాన్ని ప్రోత్సహించడమే లక్ష్యమని మోదీ తెలిపారు . 

మట్టిని రక్షిస్తేనే జీవ మనుగడ : జగ్గీ వాసుదేవ్

 మట్టిని రక్షిస్తేనే జీవ మనుగడ సాధ్యమని ఈషా ఫౌండేషన్ సద్గురు జగ్గీ వాసుదేవ్ తెలిపారు . భవిష్యత్తు తరాల కోసం మట్టిని రక్షించడం ప్రతీ ఒక్కరి బాధ్యత అని చెప్పారు . 

లైఫ్ స్టైల్ ఉద్యమం ప్రారంభం :

 పర్యావరణహితంగా మన జీవన విధానాన్ని మార్చుకోవడానికి ఉద్దేశించిన లైఫ్ స్టైల్ ఫర్ ది ఎన్విరాన్మెంట్ ( లైఫ్ ) ఉద్యమాన్ని ప్రధాని ప్రారంభించారు పర్యావరణాన్ని కాపాడడానికి తమ వంతుగా లైఫ్ స్టైల్ మార్చుకుంటే వారిని ప్రోప్లానెట్ పీపుల్ అని పిలుస్తారని అన్నారు .

2025 కు పెట్రోల్లో 20 % ఇథనాల్ :

చెరకు , ఇతర వ్యవసాయ ఉత్పత్తుల నుంచి ఇథనాల్ తయారు చేసి , పెట్రోల్లో కలుపుతున్నారు . 2022 నవంబరుకు పెట్రోల్లో 10 శాతం ఇథనాల్ కలపాలని ప్రభుత్వం లక్ష్యంగా పెట్టుకుంది . ప్రభుత్వ రంగ చమురు రిటైల్ సంస్థలు ఇండియన్ ఆయిల్ కార్పొరేషన్ ( ఐఓసీ ) , భారత్ పెట్రోలియం కార్పొరేషన్ ( బీపీసీఎల్ ) , హిందుస్థాన్ పెట్రోలియం కార్పొరేషన్ల ( హెచ్పీసీఎల్ ) కృషితో ఇప్పటికే ( 2022 జూన్లోనే ) సాధించింది . పర్యావరణ పరిరక్షణ కోసం నిర్దేశించుకున్న లక్ష్యాలను మనం ముందే సాధించామని ప్రధాని చెప్పారు . పెట్రోల్లో 10 శాతం ఇథనాల్ కలపాలన్న లక్ష్యాన్ని గడువు కంటే అయిదు నెలల ముందే సాధించినట్టు ప్రకటించారు . శిలాజేతర ఇంధనాల ద్వారా 40 శాతం విద్యుత్ ఉత్పత్తిని డెడ్లైన్ కంటే తొమ్మిదేళ్లు ముందే సాధించామని తెలిపారు . 2025 26 నాటికి పెట్రోల్లో 20 శాతం ఇథనాల్ కలిపే లక్ష్యం దిశగా అడుగులు వేస్తోంది . ముడి చమురు దిగుమతుల్ని తగ్గించుకోవడంతో పాటు పర్యావరణ సమస్యల్ని అధిగమించేందుకు చేస్తున్న ప్రయత్నమిది అని ప్రధాని తెలిపారు . ప్రస్తుతం దేశీయంగా 10 శాతం ఇథనాల్ , 90 శాతం పెట్రోల్ కలిపిన పెట్రోలు విక్రయిస్తున్నారు . ఇందువల్ల రూ .41,500 కోట్ల విదేశీ మారకపు ద్రవ్యం ( ఫారెక్స్ ) ఆదా కావడంతో పాటు , గ్రీన్ హౌస్ గ్యాస్ ఉద్గారాలు 27 లక్షల టన్నుల మేర తగ్గాయని అంచనా . ఇథనాల్ తయారీకి వ్యవసాయ ఉత్పత్తులను వినియోగించడం ద్వారా రైతులకు రూ .40,600 కోట్ల చెల్లింపులు జరిగాయి .

ఇథనాల్ ఉత్పత్తిలో అయిదో స్థానంలో భారత్ :

 ఇథనాలకు సంబంధించి ప్రపంచంలో అతి పెద్ద అయిదో ఉత్పత్తిదారుగా భారత్ నిలిచింది . అమెరికా , బ్రెజిల్ , ఐరోపా సమాఖ్య ( ఈయూ ) , చైనాలు తొలి నాలుగు స్థానాల్లో ఉన్నాయి . ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా ఇథనాలు అత్యధికంగా వినియోగానికి ఉపయోగిస్తుండగా , బ్రెజిల్ , భారత్లో పెట్రోల్లో కలిపేందుకు కూడా అధికంగా వినియోగిస్తున్నారు . 2025-26 కల్లా 20 శాతం ఇథనాల్ కలిపిన పెట్రోల్ విక్రయించాలని మన దేశం లక్ష్యంగా పెట్టుకుంది . ఇందుకు 1000 కోట్ల లీటర్ల ఇథనాలు ఉత్పత్తి చేయాల్సి ఉంది . ఇందువల్ల ఏటా 400 కోట్ల డాలర్లు ( సుమారు రూ .30,800 కోట్లు ) ఆదా చేయాలని భావిస్తోంది 2023 ఏప్రిల్ నుంచే.
